Week 3 Post-Op
23 06 2008Almost forgot to post something for this third week post-op. Therefore, while this post is dated Monday June 23 it really refers to June 15th to the 21st.
Not much going on. Everything feels as good as it could possibly be.
I feel like I could cut the cast off and go for a run. But after reading about the horrible re-rupture experience of daveleft, I think I’ll get much more realistic and conservative once I do get my freedom from the cast.
I am much more comfortable on my crutches. I’m a lot faster going up and down the stairs. I even started driving again a few days ago. So more chauffeur service for me, tomorrow I’ll be driving myself to work.
My only exercise has been playing the Wii. I got it about a week ago and it has been my friend this week. My arm is sore from playing baseball, tennis, etc. It is a cool little machine and it sure makes for great company while my wife is off doing her thing. Once I get to do some weight bearing I’ll get the Wii Fit add on to do some more extensive exercise. Its fun stuff and I recommend getting one to stave away the boredom.
Anyway, just one more week of work for me and then it’s the summer break. I’ll be using it to recover of course and to take an online course for my work. If I can’t race I gotta keep busy somehow.
This 2nd cast comes off in 11 days. What colour should the new one be? Hot pink?
Recover well everyone!
What’s wrong with Hot Pink? http://achillesblog.com/brendan/files/2008/03/img_6654.jpg
hey hoss- nice to hear from you . Im about the same re: playing the Wii but my 5 year old would wrestle it away from me from time to time .
It was horrific hearing about the 2 re ruptures in 1 week , makes me paranoid about rehab later on . well my legs are wasting away and it will be a long time before they get back close to normal i guess. i got 2 more weeks and 2 days in my cast .
hot pink with a blue band on top …….
Hi there,
Thanks for the message earlier. Looks like you do a lot of different sports, but I guess tennis did you in, huh? We share that in common. What we also share in common is … Wii! I play ALL the time now since it’s one of the few things I can do that passes the time. Wii Sports is fun (though the tennis game is nothing like real tennis, in my opinion), but my current game is MarioKart. If you liked the original, I definitely recommend this new version for Wii. You can even play online! If you decide to get it, you can send me your Wii ID and we can race virtually.
Anyways, good luck with the recovery!

Sweet! Hot Pink it is. Love it.

I have no competition for the Wii at my place. Once I get the Wii Fit maybe I’ll have to battle the wife for it though. I’ll go with the pink and request the blue band.

Cool! Another Wii player. I’m not into the online gaming thing yet so I’ll figure that out first and get back to you. I enjoy the tennis but I agree not like the real thing.
Wii is awesome. During my time down, I actually learned to play golf overhanded and my best score is 11 under par. Bought Mariokart for my son and it is great as well.
